There are also outdoor dog houses made from other materials like plastic and foam available for sale from major pet supply retailers. You can also find cedar homes and other wood homes for dogs from these retailers. The houses span from budget priced to extravagant. Outdoor dog houses aren't necessary for every dog. If your dog sleeps indoors overnight and has a fenced area to run in during the day, you might want to provide a dog house if there is no shade in your yard.
